# Approved consultants

Several independent individuals or companies have been offering expert consultancy services to the textile industry to achieve certification to [GOTS](https://global-standards.org/resources/glossary/gots "
The worldwide leading voluntary sustainability standard for the post-harvest textile value chain for certified organic fibres, covering environmental criteria, human rights, social criteria and business conduct.
")/GRTS for textile operations or to receive approval for chemical [inputs](https://global-standards.org/resources/glossary/input "
General term for all Substances and Preparations directly applied as textile auxiliary agents, inks, dyes or pigments.
").

Global [Standards](https://global-standards.org/resources/glossary/standard "
standard glossary text
") acknowledges the fact that there is a need that these individuals or companies are vetted and approved by Global [Standards](https://global-standards.org/resources/glossary/standard "
standard glossary text
") so that they disseminate accurate information to the textile industry. Global Standards has therefore formulated a policy to ensure that the industry receives correct knowledge of the standard requirements and the mandatory processes and procedures within the operations of a GOTS/GRTS [certified entity](https://global-standards.org/resources/glossary/certified-entity "
Processor, manufacturer, trader or retailer of GOTS Goods certified by an Approved Certifier.
").

The policy covers approval of formal consultancy services imparted to prospective or existing GOTS/GRTS Certified Entities or Operators, [Chemical Suppliers](https://global-standards.org/resources/glossary/chemical-supplier "
A Chemical Formulator places chemical products on the market under own trade name. Generally the recipe, formulation and processing know-how belong to the Chemical Supplier. These chemical products can be manufactured by either the Chemical Supplier itself, or another Chemical Formulator or a toll-manufacturer.
"), [Brands](https://global-standards.org/resources/glossary/brand "
A registered or unregistered trademark or other sign other than the GOTS Signs.
The term, in context, can also refer to an organisation that controls the design, development, and purchase of final products for sale under their own name. In that context, brands may sell to wholesalers, retailers, or directly to consumers. This does not include organisations who sell a branded intermediate product for use in further processing steps.
") and [Retailers](https://global-standards.org/resources/glossary/retailer "
A business entity or an online marketplace selling directly and exclusively to an end consumer (DTC operator).
") at their request. Approvals to individuals will only be granted after evaluation of a formal application (using the application form) and payment of the required application fees. The application has to be submitted to the Global Standards Management. On successful completion of assessment, the consultant will be formally required to sign a contract with Global Standards as part of the approval process.

Approved Consultants will be listed on the Global Standards website and will have limited leave to use the trademarked GOTS/GRTS logo.
