#  Application for approval as Responsible Fibre Production [Standard](https://global-standards.org/resources/glossary/standard "<p>standard glossary text</p>") in GRTS

GRTS requires the use of fibres that are certified to Responsible Production [Standards](https://global-standards.org/resources/glossary/standard "<p>standard glossary text</p>"), as defined by GRTS’s “Responsible Fibre Production Criteria”. This is akin to [GOTS](https://global-standards.org/resources/glossary/gots "<p>The worldwide leading voluntary sustainability standard for the post-harvest textile value chain for certified organic fibres, covering environmental criteria, human rights, social criteria and business conduct.</p>")’s requirement for the use of fibres that are certified to [Organic](https://global-standards.org/resources/glossary/organic "<p>'Organic' is a regulated term used to distinguish systems of managed production and products derived therefrom that adhere to principles of health, ecology, fairness and care, and which are certified compliant to an organic standard's regulations by an Approved Certification Body. <br>GOTS defines organic textiles as being made with fibres from organic agriculture systems that are certified to one of the IFOAM Family of Standards, and that are processed in socially and ecologically responsible ways, in alignment with organic principles.</p>") Standards included in IFOAM’s Family of Standards.

In the [Manual for Implementation of GRTS v1](https://global-standards.org/images/downloads/standard-manual/manual_for_the_implementation_of_grts_v1.0_june_2026R.pdf), ANNEX – Responsible Fibre Standards, standards that meet the minimum criteria for responsible fibres in GRTS are listed. Inclusion in this list however does not constitute a formal agreement between Global Standards and the respective standard owners.

Responsible Production Standards must undergo formal assessment and alignment prior to their use in GRTS. [Traceability](https://global-standards.org/resources/glossary/traceability "<p>The ability to trace the origin of an object back to its source. <br>In a GOTS context, the ability to trace a GOTS Good as it moves through its supply chain.</p>") of fibres from producers to first-[processors](https://global-standards.org/resources/glossary/processor "<p>An entity in the processing chain (post-harvest handling up to finishing) of GOTS Goods.</p>") is necessary to ensure the integrity of both the Responsible Production Standards and GRTS.

Criteria for recognition as Responsible Production Standards is elaborated in GRTS Section 2.1 and the respective section in the Manual for Implementation of GRTS.

3. Production Standard

    - Name and public download weblink of all relevant Standard documents
    - Fibres that are currently produced
    - Fibre that can potentially be produced
